we are sustainable fashion
WHY SUSTAINABLE FASHION MATTERS
Around 10% of carbon emissions and 20% of water usage worldwide come from the fashion industry. Moreover, 85% of all textiles are wasted every year (World Economic Forum, 2020). In Europe alone, 8 million tonnes are thrown away every year and only 20% of these are recycled. This is a serious global problem. The fashion industry will never disappear, so the only way to tackle this is through sustainable fashion.
WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE FASHION
Sustainable fashion makes us rethink our clothing habits and reevaluate our shopping behavior to reduce the carbon footprint of textile production and energy used in manufacturing and transportation. It is more than just eco-friendly – it’s about being aware of the resource costs and impact on the environment, people and animals involved in each step of the process.
Our pillars of sustainable fashion.
Low carbon
Egalitarian
Eco-friendly
Vegan
sustainable materials
We believe all fashion should only use sustainable materials. As a true sustainable clothing brand, we do.
Organic cotton
As a matter of policy, we can ascertain that all the cotton contained in the textiles we source is 100% organic. You will never find unsustainable conventional cotton within our apparel. Organic cotton is unbelievably better for the environment and the farmers who cultivate it.
Non-GMO seeds
No hazardous pesticides
Less energy and water use
Up to 94% less carbon emissions
Recycled polyester
Also as a matter of policy, 100% of the polyester contained within our textiles is 100% recycled polyester (or rPET). This material helps our hoodies and jumpers be stronger, more breathable and durable. Environmental benefits include:
33-53% energy savings
Combats plastic pollution
Circular economy adoption
Vegan ink
NeoPigment water-based vegan inks are used to print on our apparel.
Non-hazardous
Toxin-free
Biodegrades
low carbon emissions
Route to net zero
Our primary measure to reduce carbon emissions is to limit manufacture with our made on order model. Likewise, using organic cotton comes with the benefit of less energy-intensive farming, which also translates into lower carbon emissions.
For your information, the carbon emission savings associated with each piece from our collection have been estimated through a desktop appraisal and can be found in each product’s description.
On the path to a net zero economy, we are also actively looking to reduce further our carbon emissions by optimising our existing processes, continuously exploring different supply chains and carbon offsetting measures.
reduced water usage
The primary sustainable material in our garments is organic cotton. This is produced through the implementation of organic farming practices, which can require up to 91% less water usage.
For your information, the water usage savings associated with each piece from our collection have been estimated through a desktop appraisal and can be found in each product’s description.
zero waste model
Made on order
We only print or sew our designs on demand. Unlike typical fast-fashion giants, we do not source products in bulk. This allows us to:
Avoid over-production
Prevent textile waste
Lower carbon emissions
Reduced water and energy use
How do we achieve this? With a direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method which virtually results in zero wastewater and requires less energy. This truly breaks away from traditionally unsustainable fast-fashion giants and allows us to drive a much needed change in the industry.
fair labour
We are a small company that collaborates with ethical suppliers. Besides high-quality textiles, we also expect them to have fair labour conditions in place for all their workers. In line with the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code, these include, but are not limited to, no forced labour, no child labour, fair living wages, appropriate working hours, a safe and hygienic working place, and equality for all.
Our way of ensuring fair labour practices throughout our supply chain is by careful review of the suppliers’ documentation, prioritising Fair Wear Foundation members, and through third-party certifications like GOTS.
Global Organic Textile Standard
Our sustainable clothing brand includes GOTS certified clothing. This helps us ensure:
Organic material farming
Fair working conditions
Disuse of hazardous chemicals
Fair Wear Foundation
Our apparel is manufactured in Fair Wear approved factories. The Fair Wear Foundation is an non-profit organisation that works to improve workplace conditions in clothing factories and helps sustainable clothing brands like ours have certainty over the supply chain. We share their core principles:
Respect human rights
Good workplace conditions
Teamwork
traceability
We are selective when it comes to suppliers. We only source apparel from transparent and ethical manufacturers which indicate the origin of the textile and with sustainability policies in place. Note that you can find this information in each product’s description.
We also rely on third-party certifications to ensure the sustainability and traceability of our garments.
For transparency, the country of origin and manufacturer of each piece from our collection is displayed in each product’s description. You will also be able to find a link to each supplier’s sustainability strategy.
vegan clothing
Animal welfare
We love and respect all animals. While discovering our vegan clothing, you will also find PETA-approved labels.
No tests on animals
No animal by-products
Happy animals
